The Secret Woods August 9, 2004 board meeting was called to order by Board President Sallie Wnuk at 6:35 p.m. in the conference room of the YMCA on Belfort Road .

The following board members attended: Bill Bortzfield, Tom Bozak, Wayne Williams, Horst Pophal, Valerie Redmond and Sallie Wnuk.

Sallie read the minutes from the last meeting.  The minutes were approved as read.

Tom reported that annual dues are outstanding from only one homeowner.  The homeowner has been contacted and will pay the dues in September.

Tom has also received the new operating permit for the pool.  He will post it within the next few days.

Change of Covenants and Restrictions (Sheds)

Votes are being returned to board members.  Sallie will place additional notices at the bulletin board to remind homeowners to return their ballots.

Carpenter Ants at Pool

An appointment has been made with Bug Out to treat the pool area for carpenter ants.

Street Lighting

Sallie contacted the city to determine if it would be possible to have additional lighting in the neighborhood.  She was informed that the neighborhood has all approved lighting in place with the exception of the corner of Chapelwood and Secret Woods Trail.  This light will be added by the city.  Additional lighting would cost $1000 per light.  The city will check to see if it is possible to increase the wattage on existing lights.  In addition, it was noted that if tree branches are obstructing a light the city is responsible for clearing those branches and should be notified if the situation exists.

New Business

Landscaping Tigerhole and Hilsdale Roads

Wayne Williams contacted the city regarding neighborhood improvement grants.  The city provides matching grants of up to $5000 for neighborhood improvements.  The application period is in February and March.  A neighborhood representative would be required to complete the necessary paperwork and attend 4 workshops.  If approved, the money would be made available during the 2005/2006 fiscal year.

There was discussion surrounding what should be done to improve the appearance of the area in the meantime.  The board members agreed to walk the area and bring suggestions to the next meeting.

General Announcement re: Condition of yards and homes

Sallie will be putting a notice on the bulletin board reminding asking everyone to look at their yards and homes with a critical eye and make any repairs necessary.  The group read and approved the notice.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:15.

The next meeting, was scheduled for September 13, 2004 Submitted by board member Valerie Redmond on 9/09/04
