Board meeting minutes - December 13, 2004

The Secret Woods December 13, 2004 Homeowner’s Association Board Meeting was called to order by President Sallie Wnuk at 6:30 at the conference room of the Skinner Branch YMCA.

The following members attended: Valerie Redmond, Horst Pophal, Sallie Wnuk, Jim Thompson, and Wayne Williams. Residents Byron DeLong, Michael Veltri and Kristin Bassett also attended.

Sallie opened the meeting and read the November minutes. The minutes were approved as read.

Valerie gave the treasurer’s report,  showing the neighborhood had a balance of $22,736.26 in checking and $13,297.44 in time deposits. The time deposit will be maturing soon and will have to be acted upon by February.

Under old business it was announced that the luminaries will happen on Saturday, December 18. Bill Bortzfield will assist Cub Scout Pack 318 and Boy Scout Troop 159 in preparing and organizing. They will be at the pool area at 3- 3:15 p.m. to start dispensing the bags as per lot number.

Also under old business, JEA has not responded to requests to trim and remove trees effecting power lines. Further effort will be made to get a response.

A letter of approval for a room addition for lot 37 was written by the Architectural Committee and was read to the Board. The Board concurred with the committee’s decision.

Discussion about the rear entrance sign centered on the fact that one written bid has been received and the Board would like more.

Although it has been broken for a time, Sallie has taken each step diligently to find the responsible party and to persuade them to use their insurance to pay for the damage. Each step taken has delayed the repair but to the Association’s benefit. The repair could have been done earlier at a cost of $1500 or more dollars to our treasury. By proceeding to make the responsible party pay the sign will be in its rightful place soon at no cost to the neighborhood. As soon as it is possible the sign will be restored.

The Board is still in need of a new member due to the former Treasurer Tom Bozak moving.

Under new business, the Board approved a written request for a fence at lot 75.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM

The next meeting is scheduled for January 10, 2005

Submitted by Wayne Williams on 12/15/04.
