MINUTES OF SECRET WOODS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION MEETING

HOMEOWNERS PRESENT: Bryon DeLong, Bill Bortzfield

Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. The minutes from the July board meeting were accepted as written. The financial statement prepared by Pat Parrish was accepted as written

OLD BUSINESS:

*MONTHLY UPDATE: (1) One late notice for dues and three compliance letters were mailed this week to neighbors, (2) Pump and motor were pulled from the back pond for repairs. The pump is operable, however, a new motor is needed. North Florida Irrigation will install a new pump at a cost of $800 plus labor.

*LIGHTS AT TIGER HOLE ENTRANCE: The lights at the Tiger Hole Entrance will be repaired this month by Ross Thompson and Rob Hagen.

*SECRET WOODS WEBSITE ADS: The board approved the use of the Secret Woods Website for business advertisements placed by association members only. The guidelines were accepted as written; Bill Bortzfield has accepted the duties of placing and monitoring these ads. (Advertisement guidelines are currently posted on the bulletin board and our website.)

*GARAGE SALE: Details of the garage sale were discussed by Beth Reiney, chairman of the event. Date is Saturday, September 19, from 7:00am - 2:00pm. Shon Graham and Skip Cooney will be in charge of grilling and selling hotdogs and hamburgers during the lunch time hours. Soft drinks and water will also be available. These treats will be sold to garage sale shoppers and neighbors who need a quick break from their selling.

*POOL PARTY: The neighborhood pool party begins at 4:00pm with neighbors and friends gathering at the pool for a bit of relaxing after a busy day of garage selling. The grills will again be fired up for more hamburgers and hotdogs (provided by the association) with neighbors bringing the side dishes. A sign up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board the week of the event. Soft drinks and water will be provided.

*NEW ROSTER: An updated neighborhood roster will be distributed, along with an invitation to the pool party, to each resident’s front door on September 12 and 13.

*2009-2010 BUDGET: Rob Hagen is working on the annual budget and will have the finished product by the September board meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

*ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE REQUEST: Lot #15 has sent a written request to the architectural committee for approval to install new windows and a front glass storm door. Approval was given as written.

*ABANDONED CAR: Several neighbors have complained of an abandoned car parked in the pool parking lot. The owner has been contacted and has promised to remove the car immediately.

*PRESSURE WASHING: A bid from our yard maintenance company has been accepted by the board. The first scheduled pressure washing will be of the pool deck area, the pool chairs, and the mailbox area. This washing is scheduled before the neighborhood pool party on
September 19.

ALGAE IN PONDS: Several neighbors have brought to the board’s attention that algae has grown in both the front and back ponds. The Lake Doctor will be called this week for a scheduled visit.

ANNOUNCEMENT BOARDS: Photos were taken of the announcement boards at Secret Cove so our volunteer carpenters could begin their project. Shon Graham, Dave Hargnett, and others have offered to design and build two of these announcement boards (one for each entrance to our neighborhood).

With all matters discussed and no further business at hand, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00pm.

The next board meeting will be held Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Publix Meeting Room at 6:00PM.
